Volunteer Opportunities/Agency Needs
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES/AGENCY NEEDS
Individuals and/or groups are welcome to participate in many of the following agency volunteer requests.

AMERICAN RED CROSS*…..758-3608
VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers are needed for Disaster Services and Community Education including Individual Client Casework; volunteers who will provide immediate assistance to persons impacted by a variety of disasters; Disaster Mental Health Volunteer Instructors, address mental health needs of victims and disaster workers. Volunteers for previously named programs must be willing to travel and commit 1-3 weeks to national disaster assignments. Volunteers also needed to assist with day to day office operations.

VOLUNTEERS: Will begin recruiting a committee this summer for a bowling event in March of 2009. It's a team event where different businesses compete called Bowl For Kids Sake.

GIRL SCOUTS OF NORTH-CENTRAL ALABAMA*…..759-5421
VOLUNTEERS & NEEDS: Girl Scouts is trying to get a project off the ground at their office to make a room for volunteers and girls where the kids can go when their moms have training in the office or girls can spend the night in, etc. They have a vacant office they would like to make kid friendly by adding furniture, TV, toys, etc.
NEEDS: TV, bean bags, toys, etc. for above mentioned room
GOOD SAMARITAN CLINIC*…..343-2212
VOLUNTEERS: Tuesday & Thursday evenings 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. to help with clinic The Good Samaritan Clinic patio could use a face lift for the summer 2008. Once the clinic moves to its new site, they will also need lots of help with painting, carpentering, sheet rocking, etc. Interested individuals and groups should call Tuscaloosa County Baptist Association and sign up (339-2273). They will be notified when their group is needed for renovation and construction. (cont’d)

Need help with a Note Card fundraiser in the early summer 2008. Also, could use some landscaping, flowers, etc. around the two new modular units. Another need is for help with the community school supply drive in July 2008 by collecting school supplies and helping divide them among the various schools.
